Ruthin castle wedding video - Ste & Rebecca
Updated: Feb 4, 2021
~Peacocks and princesses~ Wales is known for it's stunning scenic countryside. Tucked away in the Vale of Clywd Is Ruthin castle. What better setting for a summer wedding than a 13th century castle, which has even housed Prince Charles over the years. This beautiful retreat is steeped in history and is a magical place to hold a wedding.

I met Ste and Rebecca for the first time at their home before they had booked me as I feel they wanted to see if we connected, which we did, BIG TIME! We were laughing and joking within minutes. I like to offer an engagement shoot to my photography clients and it was here I really got to know Ste & Rebecca, I could see instantly that this couple was full of personality and pazazz! I was buzzing with excitement for their big day as I knew with these big characters it really was going to be something special. Ruthin castle was built on a red sandstone ridge over looking the valley and truly is a beautiful looking place inside and out, the castle's interesting history shines through and has even withstood an 11 week siege! Part of the ancient walls still remain and now form part of the Ruthin castle hotel.

The rooms where the wedding was held were dressed to perfection. The white flowers decorating the room brought a breath of freshness and paired well with the dark character of the castle. The moody lighting inside the castle helped to create some stunning contrast within the shots. The ceremony was beautiful. But for me the highlight of the day was the speeches. But then again that's not surprising as when the speeches start of with a groom who wrote his own parody of the 'Fresh prince of Bel air' to tell the story of how he met his new wife. The emotional roller coaster continued and the speeches turned solemn when the best man paid homage to absent friends and family. there wasn't many dry eyes in the room by this point. To get some stunning portrait shots we decided to utilise this gorgeous castle and surrounding grounds. We got some AMAZING shots for the wedding film. Watching Ste and Rebecca flapping round with Ruthin castle's resident peacocks made this one of my most memorable portrait sessions of the year. Whilst Ste seemed completely at home flapping and squawking along with his new found feathery friends, Rebecca seemed ever so slightly more dubious, especially when the peacock started it's display. The vibrant contrast of the greenery and the stone walls against Rebecca's dress made for some amazing stills and film.

I have to give a special mention to the singing waiters who really got the party going. They literally had every guest on their feet. Laughing, singing and forming what can only be described as a mega conga!
I shot this wedding alongside the MASTER Jeff Langhorne which is always a pleasure. We had such a fantastic day capturing Ste and Rebecca's wedding, It was a great kick off to the summer wedding season and set the bar for the weddings to come. Below you will find Ste and Rebecca's HIGHLIGHTS film. Enjoy!
